Some say ghosts haunt Fremantle Prison - possibly the 43 men and one woman hung on the site. Built by convicts in the 1850s, it operated as a maximum-security prison until 1991 with the last hanging in 1964. The limestone buildings set an eerie scene for both day and night tours. The Torchlight Tours (Wednesday and Friday nights) are a treat. However, the favorite is the annual Halloween Tour. Facilities include cafe, souvenir shop, ice cream parlor and a photographer.
