Vyborg(Viipuri, Wiborg) is the biggest town on the former Finnish territory, which became a part of the Soviet Union after the Second World War. The town has a severe appearance, with a mediaeval fortress and narrow streets, castles, churches. The central castle is the oldest of all buildings, built buy occupying Swedes at the end of the thirteenth century. Nowadays the castle has 7 floors. The pride of the town is the magnificent landscape park, Monrepos (in French, 'my rest'), where gardening has been taken to the level of high art. Cozy old Vyborg has always been an inspiration for poets and painters.
