L'Hermitage in the French city of Lille was originally constructed in 1462 to care for the elderly and the ailing. More than 500 years later, it's now an Autograph Collection hotel rich in history, long on character and ideal for travelers in search of inspiring accommodations in a charming locale.

Outside the elegance and comforts of the rooms, the hotel offers a wide selection of dining and entertainment options. There's a gourmet restaurant as renowned for its atmosphere as it is for its fresh, local dishes. They are best capped with one of the many selections of excellent wines. There's live music in the hotel's piano bar. And for history fans, there's an onsite medical museum. The museum, a nod to the hotel's original days as a hospice, displays a dazzling array of 19th century medical equipment.

The hotel includes 72 distinctive rooms that are the perfect mix of Old World architecture and contemporary design. Appointments include Louis XV style oak paneling and marble flooring juxtaposed with stark, ultra-modern furnishings.
