This cozy and charming inn dates back to the 1930s. Built by a Norweigan settler and run with his wife, Deetjen's Big Sur Inn & Restaurant is a place for writers, artists, and nature lovers to seclude themselves in the quieting awe of the forest. There is also a restaurant & bar. Breakfast and dinner are served daily and with dinner there is a fine selection of wines. Since this is a historic place, noise easily permeates through the super thin walls and the doors can only be locked from within. Pets are not allowed and families with children under 12 must reserve both rooms of a two-room cottage. There is also an option for shared or private bathrooms if price is a consideration.
