I love El Salvador. I am Salvadorena by heart, not by citizenship. I have lived in Central America (mostly in Lourdes and Santa Tecla areas of El Salvador, but have also visited Guetemala) from between 3 weeks and 6 months each trip (8 trips over the past 7 years). I have loved watching the country grow and change and I am excited about her future. Toni Saca is doing a GREAT job as president right now and there are numerous evangelical and catholic churches working towards the rebuilding of their nation after war and natural disasters. Kemuel Church in Santa Tecla is one of those churches and I am honoured to be part of what they are doing. My next trip will be to move more indefinately to El Salvador and to establish a Children's Center where orphaned and abandoned children will be set into family groups and given an example of family that they can go on to model. My hear is really for the next generation of leaders, teachers, politicians and parents of this nation. and too many are left to work on the streets and join gangs...
I am so happy to see Paisanos hoping for the best off our country, I believe we could change the course of our nation together, If all the Salvadorians living in other parts of the world would like to contribute to the best of El Pulgarcito Of America and invest on Education, Health, and Sports to empower our people; specially young generations to save them from delincuency, substance abuse, domestic Violence and poverty and pass this Philosophy from generation to generation with the only purpose of giving our children the opportunity of have a better future. Unfortunatly this is not happenning yet.. I am praying for a better Country, for a better world. If there is someone out-there who have the same drem, please get in touch.
It is the most beautiful place i know. It sucks that all the politicians have to only look in their own interest and ignored the right thing to do. I hope that one day all of us Salvadorians can look back on our country and actually be proud of what it is.
Hello and gretings. I was born in El Salvador in 1978 and was adopted by an American family in 1980. I spent some time at Rosa Virginia ( sp?) orphanage prior to my adoption. I will be returning to El Salvador with my (adoptive) family this March 2008 and am excited to visit the country and take in the culture. I have also been working with Pro-Busqueda to locate my biological family whom I was seperated from as a result of the civil war. I'm excited about this process but nervous at the same time. The info that I have on my biological family is limited and I'm realistic that this process may take time and that, in fact, a reunion may never happen. I'm glad to hear that others are still so enthusiastic about adopting from the country! I wonder if any one has any information about my old orphanage Rosa Virginia? I would love to visit and bring down some supplies. Any support and advise would be greatly appreciated by my family and I. - Kristen
Hello Kristen, I wish you the best luck in your new adventure. I'm sure you will find something that will lead you to finding your biological family. Personally, I think is going to be a great experience for you. I left my country in 1989 due to the civil war as well. After so many years I decided to go back to El Salvador in March, 2007, and I loved it! This year, I am traveling with my husband and children, we are much exited. Have fun! God Bless you! -liz
Hola Kristen I wish you the very best finding your biological parents. I love El Salvador, I love it's people and I love it's food. I hope you bring back good memories but don't forget that there is poverty and at times it's so hard to see. Non the less enjoy yourself and have fun.
My partner who is from the Santa Ana area and I go to El Salvador 3 or 4 times per year. I love it there. We have purchased a beach house and a coffee Finca. My partner's sister and her husband were killed by gangs in August 2006 and it did put a damper on my enthusiasm to visit however I decided it is really no different than Los Angeles where many terrible things happen and we don't leave. I am most familiar with El Lago Coatepeque, Santa Ana, Sonsonate and la Playa Metalio. We plan to retire there in the next 10 years.
Unfortunatly this is not happenning yet..
I am praying for a better Country, for a better world. If there is someone out-there who have the same drem, please get in touch.
