I was too tired for Rome. We walked and walked and got lost (not as charming a thing to do as suggested by the guide books). The colliseum was beautiful at night, and the Vatican is one of those places everyone should see at least once.

The Trevi was crowded and very hard to find - at least for us.

Sorry this took so long to respond to, but in case anyone else is interested. We based ourselves in London and took several day trips. Canterbury was one of them. I tried to find a place to stay, but could not find anything reasonable. It worked out just fine, the train ride was lovely, we enjoyed the relaxation of watching the countryside pass by. One day in Canterbury let us see everything we wanted to see. A wonderful place to visit.
