I'm on my way to the islands. I will be docking into Grand Cayman on 8/20 and can't wait. Any snorkeling suggestions? Also, are there any touring excursions?
I've been going to the Caymans for over 15 years (now I average 6 times a year) It is fantastic. Snorkeling is the best and amazingly the Turtle Farm is high tech and informative and cool. The most amazing things are the perfect cool and fine white sand beach / blue green crystal clear water and if you are at the Ritz the stay would be memorable. The golf courses are great. What is truly amazing are the huge variety of restaurants and they all are top quality. Every trip I go to a different restaurant during each of teh 9 nights I stay on island and I am never disappointed with the food and service. The only problem is the price - it is expensive to stay and eat there. But I would put the restaurants on par with most of the top restaurants in the States. This is quite different - when you travel to a Caribbean island you certainly don't expect great food and maybe you find one or the most two decent places to eat. Here you can eat to your hearts content with qualit food prepared by the people direct from their native country. Like Cassanova - run by good Italian chefs. Bamboo - a sushi/asian place with Japanese chefs. An Hunan restaurant run by Chinese chefs and staff. There's Thialand foodery, Argentinean restaurants...and of course loacal food and American Food places - like Burger King, Domino Pizza and Kentucky Fried Chicken.
I've nver been to the Caymans but it has been my dream ever since I read about it in a Nora Roberts novel. I'm planning my 50th birthday trip in September ( 9 through 13 Sep...my bday is the 11th) with about 4-6 friends....any suggestions?
I can go on and on - as you can see
Enjoy your trip
