Before seing the last days I wrote:
Here are my comments: In Madrid you should also go to the Parque El Retiro, which is at a walkable distance from La Puerta del Sol. It is a park with a lake in the middle, a big green spot in the middle of the city to go and take a break and have a self made sandwich sitting in front of the lake or just on the grass. You should also go to el Palacio Real (Royal Palace) which is at a walkable distance from Plaza Mayor and the Cathedral that is in front of it (Almudena I think is the name). Walking around the city center, having tapas with beer in the small bars, seeing for example the house where Miguel de cervantes Saavedra used to lived and died in la Calle Cervantes, are a must. You should also, if have some time, go to the El Prado Museum in Madrid.
