This is $10. I realize I have a lot of similar nature-focused items in this list... but this one looks very good. Review from someone on yahoo:
Great interactive exhibits, hands-on animal demos, an amazing hummingbird exhibit, beautiful grounds, animals a plenty, and something for all ages. A must see. Really.

This is $5, looks pretty nice, not sure if it's very large or not. But they have a "butterfly exhibit" that the 2 reviews mentioned: So many butterflies fly around you and there are many wonderful flowers they land on. Outside of the butterfly exhibit, they have a butterfly ER - more like a delievery room! You can watch them hatch out of their chrysallis!

I don't want to go on the Desert Princess! But I put this in here because I've kept in touch with my 2nd grade teacher from Germany, and she lives in Sun City. This looks very close to Surprise on the map... so I hope it's not asking too much to stop by and see her (because basically, it'll be like visiting a grandmother). But we could stay just for three hours or less? Or if you have another idea we could figure out how I could stay with her for a bit, and you could do something else.

Andrea-
Here are some of the things I found on YahooTravel that I'd be interested in doing (however, I'm not so interested in the Biosphere and perhaps we could pass on the Kitt Peak Observatory)-- you'll see my comments in the "note" line of each attraction as an explanation.

I also liked reading other Yahoo user's comments about the places, because they give a little more insight into what is offered. For example, there was some western-themed shopping complex that I thought I'd be interested in, however it turns out that it's mostly for kids, so I just deleted that item.

Also, I was generally less interested in art museums and galleries, so none of that is in here. Of course if there's something like that you'd like to do, we can-- I just didn't list it since it's not a main interest of mine. I wouldn't stop us from going if you'd like to. Or any other attraction that's on here, for that matter. I also didn't list any of the Space Museums, and there were a couple I think.

One more note: I know I put a lot of nature-type stuff in here (AZ-Sonora Desert Museum, Tucson Botanical Gardens, Sabino Canyon). I know you may not be interested in doing all three, but each one looked appealing to me. I'd never been through a canyon before... the Desert Museum looks good and so does the Botanical Gardens. All of the admissions look pretty inexpensive. But depending on time, we might have to rule one of these out.

on the way back from tucson, stopped by the catalina state park. just wanted a few photographs of the area. still a few wildflowers around, and the cholla are flowering. amazed at how tall these cactus can grow to, like trees. glad it wasn't too hot yet, and got to see some of the hohokam ruins as well.
