We parked beside the William A. Irvin and spent the evening walking around canal park. The highlights were the Arial lift Bridge (the Russian freighter). The sailors are within talking distance. The girls waved their arms off! Next we went to the light house. The view was fantastic. The girls and Mark went into the water near the pier. The rocks were smooth from the waves. We then walked the boardwalk and watched a group of boys jumping into the lake off an old cement building that was used in the early 1900's and abandoned. Mark and Rose threatened to go swimming but were overruled.

We drove from Duluth and arrived at the Marquette Motel which is part of the IDS Center. We asked for a room higher up and got the 13th floor. We had never stayed in the middle of the city before and the view was spectacular. The IDS center can be seen on the opening credits of the Mary Tyler Moore show. We explored the skywalk and found the Mary Tyler Moore statue in front of Marshal Fields. When we went outside it was very hot.

This is a great place to go. We ended up going twice. The food is good and cheap and the atmosphere is a must go. Good looking servers (the girls thought so), and a historic building which included stain glass windows, high ceilings and a trolley cars and antique lights.
