Luquillo is still the poster child of Puerto Rico beaches, but it gets pretty crowded, especially on weekends. Coconut palms line this crescent-shape beach, and coral reefs protect its crystal-clear lagoon from Atlantic waters, making it an ideal place to swim. Amenities include changing rooms, lockers, showers, picnic tables, tent sites, and stands that sell cocktails and island savories. It also has a ramp that allows wheelchair users water access. It's north off Route 3 on the way to Fajardo. The famous Luquillo kiosks are close by, and are a classic stop for drinks and snacks, though some of the former shacks now have air-conditioning and loud music
