Guwhati the exotic Tantrik worship

A trip from August 02, 2006 to August 13, 2006
I had to visit Guwhati on 2nd of August and took an Air … More
I had to visit Guwhati on 2nd of August and took an Air Deccan flight from Hyderabad to Kolkata and then a connecting Alliance air flight to Guwhati. It was ofcourse a wonderful experience (leave alone the delayed Alliance air flight which deprived me of my lunch) and thank god i was there in guwhati by the evening say 7 pm. It was so warm welcome from Saikias (Do I need to be so formal for ana atleast). YEah and let me tell u about Ana /s it Aanee. She's my best friend and one of those dear ones. We were actually classmate in Journalism. And how can I miss the motive behind the trip. Ofcourse it was my Journalistic inquisitiveness to be in Guwhati the Northeast to be specific. But no that was just the covering reason the actual was to meet Ana after a year or so. She's the sweetest you know.

Cant actually resist the feeling of flying for the first time.... but yeah not untill I have reached Kolkata that felt being in the air. The Alliance air which had all my angst and curses for being delayed previously is now my fav. As soon as the flight lifted of from the Netaji airport I started to have this tickling sensation and the beautiful ganges curving along the city like a beautiful lovely huge reptile. And there it was that I had the ultimate sensation, with a silver lined Golden interior clouds all around It can never be recreated by the best artists. Only nature can do it I tell u.

Had to stay in Ana's house I know its quite uncomfortable to be in somebody's house but not if its ana's. And I had a pleasant surprise (although I knew in advance) Nupur the sweet one Ana and Lon (ana's husband sorry lon) adopted. Had to wait for some friends who would join me later but only to be let down. Will have that revenge again the next time we meet fellas. The first day dozed off with Nostalgia and the next day too.

The third we decided to visit Ana's mom and then procede to the KamaKhya temple . MMMM thats a huge one a very unique one I tell you. One has to visit the place to feel the reverbrations (come on the priests are there to trouble you but u need to fight that ur way) the temple is actually a complex of temples of Shakthi in the form of Mother Goddess and the worship a tantric form. This is the only place where the Female genetalia is worshipped (thats as far as I know heee). A hill top view of the city is just some moments of amazement coupled with pride. Then a day later we visited Ana's riverside house a wonderful cute little place. The mighty Brahmaputra at its fiercest (thats what I thought but the monsoon this year is the poorest with farmers loosing their crops even after september) The next day I took on my personal visit to the Guwhati university meeting a bunch of students from Hafflong and trying to build up a transaction with them on the Primitive tribes and their extinctions as well as the Folklore of the Jatinga tribes (haa ur right u get the pictures of Suicide bird points). Then a visit to the Daul Govinda Mandir a trip with a pleasant breezing and swing on the waters of the Brahmaputra is worth not to forget.

The Final leg of my Assam trip ended with my actual visit to the Dhimasa tribes and Hafflong as such. A quite one but truly adventurous, with my stay at one of the school teachers house and a break to visit the Saraswathy vidya mandir school. It was truly a learning experience with the tribals of the Dhimasa tribe their folklore and the wonderful but sad saga of the Birds comming there to commit suicide.
