Just my personal opinion, but you're kind of cutting yourself short on time in Kyoto. Tokyo Dome city is cool, and fun ... but depending on what you're planning to do there, you can almost combine it w/another day trip into Tokyo. I'd give yourself time to fully explore Kyoto & check out Nara or even Osaka while you're so close.

I envy your trip, though ... can't wait to get back to Japan myself!

Yes, I think we are going to take your advice and add in more days in Kyoto- I think that there are just too many sights there to spend only 2 days there. Any advice or tips you can give about Kyoto (or sights to see) would be appreciated! thanks for the comments!

Hey, I was wondering, what is the name and location of that place with the walkway/row of rust-colored (wooden) pillars with the writing on them?

Also, the title of this trip mentions that it's your second trip. Where did you go and what did you do on your first trip? Do you have any location/activity recommendations and advice to someone who is planning their first trip to Japan? (I'm hoping to go in a year or two and am researching locations, etc. for the trip.) Thanks for taking the time to read this, and (if you have the time to) to respond. ^_^
