San Antonio

We took the boat ride right at 9 o'clock when it opened. We avoided the long line and the heat of the mid day this way. We were the first on the boat!

They close at 5 o'clock. We arrived late but they were equally impressive just peering in and some are so run down that you can walk through all parts of them even when the park is closed. The plaques with the history are nice.

Skip the long line in front unless you desperately want to see what white rock looks like from the inside (a lot like it does from the outside) and go straight to the armory instead. Wait by the door for the movie they show every X:40 of an hour. It's good, then go look at Travis' ring and Davey Crockett's hair in the next room.

The cathedral is impressive and beautiful. Crockett, Travis and Bowie's remains are kept in the front.

It's neat to see, open late and at $5 is pretty cheap too. The park around it is worth a stroll as well.

I love, love, love this place. I've never been in the museums but I love having a drink at the bar and playing at the shooting range (and seeing an old tyme flip movie)

The guadajara cafe in front has excellent food and margaritas. The art work is very pretty.

They open at 7 am and have a lovely breakfast. The food, ambiance and service resembles fine dining but the prices are extremely reasonable. It's a beautiful way to start the day. It starts to get busy after about 8:30, though.

A lot of fun. Mexican and Texan souveniers for cheap.

We accidently stumbled on this place. It's neat to see and at $1.50 per person, you can't beat the price.

Out of all the missions, this is the one I wish we could have seen the insides of. It was neat from the outside too, especially the mountain of rocks with the Virgen on top.

This had a neat trail in the back that was not so long of a walk but you could see part of the river in the wilderness and read parts of traveler's diaries from the people first discovering the land.

There are still monks living here and they have beautiful plants in front of their living area.

It's huge and impressive. We were too late to go inside but I saw a sign for a gift shop.

Nice hotel in a decent location. Didn't break the bank.

WHAT FUN! The ostriches came right into the car and scared the goodness out of me. We fed zebras, llamas, deers and other animals. Afterwards we pet the goats in the petting zoo, then admired the lemurs, macaws, and giraffes around the gift shop.
