Kentucky did indeed side with the north in the civil war.
It is considered a part of the mid west.
Although you did say Ky AND yankee country.
Only people in ky consider themselves southern. Ga Tenn ala s.c. , they consider Kentucky yankee country because of their lack of commitment to the confederate cause.
I live in ky , born in Ohio , I'm a mid westerner (by my account) A true yankee (in my opinion ) would be new englander new yorker .Unless the only "gauge" for determining this is their allegence in the civil war.
I've been to or by everywhere you listed except Fazolis , and it is indeed a great drive.

Some people take the word Yankee as a insult. BUT PEOPLE SEEM TO FORGET THE NORTH WON THE WAR! NO MATTER HOW MUCH YOU LIKE THE COLORS ON THE REBEL FLAG. :) Kentucky is North in my opinion and a very nice place to vacation.
