The Biltmore House is a must see. The house has it's seasons. Christmas is a good choice, and the gardens are wonderfull when all the bulbs are blooming. Check their calendar.

A fantasy. Movies have been made here, and I found out why, the grounds and castle are mind-boggling. I have been to castles in Ireland and France. This palace brings a heartbeat to America. I have visited the Biltmore 12-15 times and will be back again.
