I'd work my way around starting in Istanbul. Visiting beaches, historical museums and so on. Then on to athens and the Greek Islands. Athens for the history the islands for relaxation and beauty. Then on to Sicily, then move upward, Naples, Rome, Florence, Genoa, Milan, then train over to Barcelona then Madrid. Fly to Ibiza, then to French Islands. Back to the continent to see Nice and Cannes.

this is but a shadow of my DREAM vacation. I would be gone for 2-4 months if not longer. All the places I'd like to see aren't listed but it gives anyone an idea. I would spend the most time in Italy. Proabably make base in Rome and take the train out to other parts of the country. I would love to stay there for longer than a month, improve my language skills and so on. The least amount of time would be in France, since I speak no French.

Hi there, I am about to embark on a similar trip next month, and was wondering what transportation you used from Istanbul to Athens? And how you then went from Athens to Italy? We are planning on going to the island of Santorini, at least, and then ideally moving onto Naples, Venice, and Florence. I would appreciate any advice! Thanks :)
