El Yunque, the only rain forest in the U.S. National Forest Service, is 28,000 acres of lush tropical forest, unique flora and fauna, and myriad brooks and waterfalls. Hiking trails and rest huts abound, and an observation tower offers sweeping views of the northeast corner of the Island. El Portal Tropical Forest Center has film exhibits and interactive displays about the rain forest. Groups can also use the Forest Center building for special events after 5:00 PM. The rain forest is only 45 minutes from San Juan.

I would like advice in how I can schedule 8 days in the island. I would like to see the most important places. Does anybody knows how is the stay in the holiday inn express. Also I would like some safety tips.

when in ponce, if you get a chance go over to La Paguera...it's a small fishing village about 30 minutes west of Ponce. We loved it so much we ended up spending the rest of our trip there. The snorkeling there is AMAZING and there's a bioilluminest bay there that's really cool. There's a dive shop across the street from the blue hotel (name??? walking west, hotel is on the right, dive shop is up hill on left). Luis, the old man who runs the shop, is fantastic and runs great snorkel/dive/bioilluminescent boat trips. It's MUCH better than anything that goes out of Ponce. In fact, I'd suggest staying in La Paguera instead. Have fun!
