Well the trip was successful and had a great time. I found a 110 carat ruby. The weather was cloudy and got some rain but not enough to ruin the long weekend. As to the "motel", I must admit sometimes cheap is not the best way to go. I have to praise Franklin NC as a great place to go for a long weekend.
