THESSALONIKI HALKIDIKI

Well, it was an exciting trip. Grand Hotel Palace in Thessaloniki-a five star hotel-was very good and everybody there, were polite and inquiring any information we wanted.
We spent the first night going to ODEON, a night spot near the aerodrome. The singers there : REMOS, SARBEL, VANESSA ADAMOPOULOU. We enjoy there singing and dancing untill early morning hours (untill 6 in the morning!!) We had our breakfast before.... sleeping...
The next day we went to EDESSA FALLS by our renting car.It was marvellous. Late at night we went to PLATEIA ATHONOS in Thessaloniki and eat in taverna ouzeri MESOGIOS, drinking RETSINA. We sing all together with the two boys who were playing bouzouki and quitar.
Next morning at TSIMISKI Road, shopping and look around. Lunch at taverna ouzeri TA LOULOYDADIKA with cold beer and at the end of our lunch we tried the sweet kazan dipi. Very nice. The night we went to admire some philippinese folk dances in the garden theatre. It was a festival with folk dances. It was very good. When it ends we went to WHITE CASTLE and have a fun trip with a small train near it. Afterwards we get into the ELECTRA HOTEL at the roof garden where we were looking down the entire PLATEIA ARISTOTELOUS. We drunk mohito and ice cream...
Next day at EGNATIA ROAD. It is very difficult to drive in Thessaloniki when you want to stop and going shopping. There is no place to park your car ! Police... punished us with penalty !

Don't forget to go to the nearby hills, just outside Thessaloniki, a place named "KASTRA", where there are many taverns. We went the first night, before going to REMOS, at a tavern named "PYRGOS". Unexpectendly we find there the manager Panayiotis who was from Famagusta district Cyprus! He was kindly treatment us by offering us RETSINA!
One mornig we went to AY.DEMETRIOS CHURCH. The calmness of the church made us pray and look inside of ourselves.
At late night we went to an area called MYLOS. There were many open air taverns and bars. That night was performed a band named LONG LIVE with English songs. We drunk mohito and margarita. It was our last night in Thessaloniki.
Next morning say farewell to the beautiful, lovely town and went to CHALKIDIKI by our renting car.
We spend some hours at PETRALONA CAVE. We get the inside tour into the cave and saw the museum. It was very interesting and exciting.
Finally we reach ATHOS HOTEL, a four star hotel, in Kallithea area. It was like a castle, like a monastery... I liked it too. Our room was at the sixth floor looking the swimming pool and the entire gardens ending just at the begining of the blue and marvellous sea....
We spent the first day at the pool and the sea. We ate at the hotel at night and we went to a night spot "THALASSA" There were singing SP. SPYRAKOS and IMBRIOS.
Next day the same, calm, swimming, relaxing ...
The other day we went for a long drive... At 7 o'clock, very early for holidays, we drive to Sithonia peninsula admiring the wonderful scenery of " green into the sea..." Finally we reach the small town OURANOUPOLIS for going a small trip aroung ATHOS MONASTERIES. Beside us there was another small boat with Mr. KARAMANLIS ! He was going too to the monasteries.
It was a very good experience looking the monasteries, some up the hills and some near the sea... Calm and near the God !...
Returning to reality we get the back road to MARMARAS, a very nice small town in SITHONIA peninsula. There we went for swimming and lunch (fish). We return to our hotel at 7.30 p.m. We spent that night going to hotel cinema watching the film "Flight plan" with Joudy Foster. It was very good.
Next day by the sea and the swimming pool. The night was a Greek night at the Hotel. We dance there many dances...
Last day in Chalkidiki. Relax, sun, swimming... The last night we went to a tavern near the hotel for some food and dance. It was very fun, and enjoy ourselves dancing and talking with the other persons who were graduated us for our dances...
The good things goes very quickly! That's the end of our trip. 8 nights and 9 days were very wild as well and calm ...
We liked this trip very much. It had everything !... Relax, educating, fun... The people everywhere were very polite.... But the traffic ... madness!!!... We saw nature beauties and ancient monuments... Pray .... dancing.... and everything ! Greece is absolutely wonderful !...
