I'm actually going at the end of August/beginning od Sepetember. It'll be my first time there (going solo) so I think I will just take it easy and bum around on the beach. I would love to visit the ruins, maybe next time when I go there. Looks like we'll be in Cancun at the same time! Have fun ;-)
