I think we should probably pick between the Anchorage Museum of History and Art, and the Alaska Native Heritage Center. Brandon votes for Anchorage Museum of History and art because the heritage center is more interactive, trying out dancing, and native craft making, also makes it about twice as expensive, ballpark of 20 bucks.
I'd vote for the Heritage center if we can spend around 2 - 3 hours. How far away is it from everything else to bike there? Otherwise, the History and Art place would be good as well. Seeing some Alaskan animals at the Alaska zoo might be cool too in case we don't see any while we're out in the wild ourselves. :)
I agree on the not biking 14 miles round trip :) the biking was just an idea for tooling around downtown. Ive added the zoo to our itinerary, but we will have to buss there!
Horrible Experience With REI Adventures: I booked an $8,000 trip for myself and my girl friend for a June 7-12, 2009 GLACIER BAY CRUISE AND KAYAK. After making a $1000 deposit, I was told the trip was a "go" and to go ahead and book my plane tickets. After arranging my transport to Alaska (total cost $950 for 2 adults), I was informed that some people pulled out at the last minute and our trip did not have the minimum # to go forward. I was charged $200 for the pleasure of canceling my reservation (technically if I waited, REI Adventures could have kept my entire deposit so I guess I'm lucky to be only partially on the hook!). Really lousy experience. I would recommend that you not use their services.
