Trip of a life time with everything to see and every one to get to know.

We were really lucky to have friends living over there - they already knew the lay of the land and it was certainly nice to spend a night in their place (probably saved us at least $100 - probably a lot more). I'd love to spend more time in either city (Kyoto or Tokyo). Hopefully we'll be able to visit them again before they leave.

I was wondering if you had any advice on cheap hotels in Tokyo. im planning on going next summer to see my friend and i want to stay as long as i can afford it!

Very nice! My boyfriend and I went to Tokyo last year and are planning on going again in 2 weeks! This time we'll get to check out Mt. Fuji and possibly Kyoto so this journal is a nice way to get anothers view on Japan.

Samara, I'd recommend taking a look at a site like Hostels.com. If you don't mind giving up space and privacy, hostels are always cheaper than hotels and the sense of community at the better hostels can make a trip much better as you mingle with fellow travelers and gain from their experiences.

Botanist, I highly recommend Kyoto. It was a beautiful city. If only we'd had more time!
