also along route in pismo beach along 101 hwy is hurst castle and plenty of wine vineyards where you can tour and sample local wines

coming north from cresent city on redwood hwy 199 approx 45 miles will put you in a town called cave junction there is a state park called oregon caves a must also along the way is great cats animal park which has tons of species of cats from around the world

sounds like a trip my husband and I would enjoy. We love MOnterey and always plan to travel further but never quite get up to Oregon. Anyway, visiting San Francisco should stop off at Sausalito, it is lovely and on the journey up.

My wife and I will be traveling up the west coast in mid-August from San Diego to Seattle. We enjoy road trips, adventure, local specialties, and beer. Right now our planned stop-overs are Santa Barbara, Monterey, Mendocino, Crescent City, Klamath Falls, Eugene, Olympia and Seattle. Any knowledge of must-sees, local festivals, great brewpubs and senic vistas will be greatly appreciated.
