My wife and I really like Wyndham Fortuna near Freeport. It is all inclusive and is a lot of fun. It is not one of those 5 star places that close you off the beach, they embrace the beach. You can snorkel on a reef within 200 feet of the beach in about 7 feet of water and see all kinds of fish. We have driven from one end of Grand Bahama Island to the other and found the island very interesting but really do not have any reason to leave the resort. I would suggest staying away from the international Bazaar and do your shopping at Port Lucaya. As far as phones and internet; go to the islands to get away, stay away.

I liked the Princess Country Club because it was away from the ocean and very close to the casino --during the winter, ocean side is quite windy and on the cool side. Is this hotel still in existence and if not, has it been replaced with another?

well, boltonknox there is currently no hotel that has replaced the Royal Oasis yet. It has been sold but no development has begun. I would suggest you visit the Sheraton at Our Lucaya. I enjoyed a weekend stay there.
