Blackwater Falls State Park is named for the falls of the Blackwater River whose amber-colored waters plunge five stories then twist and tumble through an eight-mile long gorge. The "black" water is a result of tannic acid from fallen hemlock and red spruce needles. The falls are one of the most photographed sites in West Virginia.

Directions : Take I-64 or I-264 toward Virginia Beach/Norfolk, then take I-264 toward Downtown Norfolk. Left exit on to Waterside Drive. Go four short blocks to Nauticus, the large gray building. The Victory Rover is located next to Nauticus. Parking is available in city garages.


Wow this was a great tour and the Crew were awesome. I talked to this one crew memeber John who was very informative. If I go back to Norfolk I can't wait to take it again.

This was one of the most informative and relaxing cruises that I have ever been on. I am a Hampton Roads native, but never had the time to take this tour. I am glad that I did though! You can expect a great time for all ages.

Last Visit:March 2005This is one of the best naval base cruises. The narration was so informative and relaxing. I have been several times already and I can't wait to go back. We saw so may ships and the USS Cole. We also got a chance to see three aircraft carriers which was awsome. I wouldn't ever go on any other harbor cruise but the Victory Rover to see the naval base. Everytime that I come into Norfolk for busness I always and take the cruise on the Vicoty Rover.
