GO TO PEARL HARBOR AT ALL COSTS:) WE TOOK THE NCL NORWEGIAN WIND 12 DAY ISLAND CRUISE IN OCT-NOV 2005 - THE BEST PARTS OF THE ENTIRE CRUISE WAS FANNING ISLAND (PART OF THE CHRISTMAS ISLANDS - 300 MILES NORTH OF THE EQUATOR-NO ELECTRICITY/PHONES, ETC) AND PEARL HARBOR. HAWAII ISLANDS WERE A BIT TOO COMMERCIALIZED BUT OK - WE WENT THE DAY OUR FLIGHT LEFT HAWAII TO COME BACK HOME. IT IS OH SO WORTH IT - TAKE A BOX OF TISSUE. ALASKA IS MUCHO BETTER!!!
We began our cruise in Honolulu on July 1, 2006 and returned to Honolulu on July 8, 2006. The trip was too much fun! Some advice, though. Since you are in port every day, you feel obligated to book something each day. Don't! Take at least one day and just enjoy some relaxing time on the ship. Also, make sure to check out the specialty restaurants (our favorite was East Meets West). Much better food and service than the buffet and main dining rooms... And if you run in to Cathy in Little Italy or the breakfast buffet area, say hello from us!
Don't know if we'll have time for Pearl Harbor, it will be up to the flight arrangements that the cruise company gives us.
