Great place to stay, can't beat the price. This is located in the Adams Morgan section of D.C. near the Zoo. The nearest metro stop is called Woodley Park/Zoo/Adams Morgan. Within a two block walk are some great eclectic restaurants, a SafeWay, and if you walk to Connecticut Ave there are some very standard restaurants as well. The room itself was great, very large, and we had requested a private bath. The fellow travelers were friendly and there was coffee and cookies available all the time. Highly recommend this place.

Excellent for the price (it's free). Warning to check to see what times things open. We went early in the morning and most of the indoor house exhibits didn't open until 10am. There was a lot of construction going on, hopefully when that gets finished there will be more exhibits open. We did get to see the pandas, elephants, giraffe, Orang Utangs, seal, ducks, wolf, and most of the others were either indoors or closed due to the renovation. Great place to bring children, there were a ton of school groups coming in as we were leaving. This is a little walk from it's metro stop, allow at least 15 minutes of walking time. There is a McDonald's at this metro stop, great place to catch lunch.

This is a must see, but often overlooked part of Washington. It is difficult to find, located across from the actual mall, near the Vietnam Veterans Memorial generally. This is an awesome photo op.

This is a great exhibit. It will cause you to reflect. If you are not familiar with the history of World War II, this is a great history lesson from a different perspecive. Come prepared to spend several hours. We got our tickets to start this only two hours before they closed, so we had to rush through the second half of the exhibit.

Come early! Do not wait until the week after it ends and think you can see anything. We came on April 10th and there were almost no blossoms left. The trees are pretty, and you can still walk around, but come the first week of the festival to see the cherry blossoms.

This is kinda interesting and different. It is a newer museum that is very popular. They sell timed tickets and yet it is still overcrowded. You move around in no particular patern. It is confusing, and it is impossible to sit and watch all the videos. I think it is over rated, especially for $15 per person. I've been here twice, and doubt I will go back again.

Take a walk down the entire mall. Suggested start by the Lincoln memorial. See the Vietnam Veteran's Memorial, The Korean War Memorial, the Albert Einstein Memorial, walk up the reflecting pool toward the World War II Memorial. Most of that can be unplanned. The Washington Momument requires timed tickets to get up it. You need to plan ahead on that one. From there you can walk around the tidal basin and view the Jefferson Memorial. A great walk for a beautiful day. Bring comfortable shoes.

This is awesome. It is a large and impressive memorial located between the reflecting pool and the Washington Monument. It has a cement pillar for each state and territory. With a large fountain in the middle. Find your state and take a picture. This is a great place to sit and reflect.

We stayed at the Adams Inn, located in Adams-Morgan. This is a fun neighborhood. It is kinda different. We ate dinner at a mexican restaurant, it was fun and casual. There are many bars and evening entertainment. A close walk to the zoo. Parking is difficult, but free in the evening where you can find it.

Vietnam Veterans Memorial, is a very memorable trip. Also the Holocaust Museum is very impressive. Just don't plan on seeing D. C. in anything close to one day.

I've basically done DC in one day, and so has my brother. You won't be able to see everything, but if you're in good shape and go quickly you can see a lot:)

I went to D.C. on a trip with my sign language class because the first american made deaf school was Gallaudet University and that was interesting. Along with several other things it was hard enough to ride from MI to DC and only go for a weekend. Our group had to split up into different groups so they could see what they wanted to see the most.
