Outer Banks sounds like a great place to visit. What's the best time of the year to visit?

I go in October because the rates are lower, the crowds are gone, the weather is usually very nice, although can be cool or cold at night. The only draw back is some of the attractions may be closed, such as the Lost Colony outdoor drama or climbing the Hatteras lighthouse.

The Spring and Fall are great times to rent on the Outer Banks. The crowds are gone once the kids go back to school and the weather is usually sunny and warm. The beach is great and we love shopping and eating in the restaurants. My family rents a beach cottage from Atlantic Realty every year. The staff is friendly and treat us like family. We usually rent a small place for just our family of 4 but they have cottages all over from Corolla down to Nags Head and even some bigger, pricier ones with pools, hot tubs, the works!!!!! I'd highly reccommend Atlantic Realty.

I love the Outer Banks! We make it down a few times every year. September is the best time of year. Try Sun Realty for a rental house--lots of nice houses, good website with lots of photos. We've stayed with a few other companies but mostly stick with Sun.

I absolutely love vacationing on the Outer Banks! I think it is a great place for people of all ages and pricing wise you can't beat it! I agree that September is a great time to visit but so is June and July IMO. There are many activities for your children during these months...my kids always enjoy Duck's fourth of July parade and Corolla's wild horse day. I particularly am a huge fan of Outer Banks Blue Realty...they are very kid and pet friendly (which is very important to my husband and I) and I love the fact that they offer both weekly and daily rentals just in case for some reason we have hectic schedules and can not commit to the usual rental time period. I have been vacationing on the outer banks since I was young and have never come across a better rental agency, customer service wise! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THEM!

The Outer Banks is the best! Try Sun Realty or Village Realty for great homes---oceanfront, ocean views, pools and hot tubs, pets allowed, etc. I've had great vacations with both. The area has lots of variety. Some homes are really large but you can still find smaller ones too. Have fun at the beach!
