I live in Boston now, and I can tell you that if you come in March you need to bring heavy winter clothes. Don't expect snow, but rather high winds and low temperatures. It's coldest downtown, both near the water and in between the buildings. Faneuil Hall is also a particularly windy area for some reason, and during the trip this is where we were unpleasantly surprised at how unprepared we were for the weather. My advice: come in May. The tours begin again and it may be more touristy but waiting for the mild weather will make it much more enjoyable.
