Inexpensive, good location. Not a new or modern hotel by any stretch of the imagination, but it was clean enough, and it was only a block away from Union Square.
We had a room facing Geary St. which was nice when folks sang outside and we wanted to get a view of the city, but there was also a great deal of the usual street noise of honking, construction, sirens, people yelling at each other, etc.

Food and drinks weren't bad, but probably wouldn't be worth the price if that were the sole attraction. Fortunately, that's not the case and you're not really there for the food. The entertainment was amusing. We were told when making the reservations that there is normally a time limit for staying while eating dinner (as there are shows and people could conceivably stay all through the evening just to watch), but getting a 9pm reservation guarantees at least two shows and no time limits.

Had lunch here - enjoyed the luminous purple jellyfish-lighted decor, enjoyed the food, best of the weekend 'o eating. I had a butternut soup, mahi mahi, and one of the most delicious desserts I've had in recent memory, a peanut butter mousse with a tasty chocolate crust. Mmm.

Atmosphere of this SoMa restaurant was less highbrow than others, which is to say that it was a little more intimate and friendly. The menu was very italian. We had thinly sliced strips of bacon (and yes, I've forgotten the correct italian term for it), a delicious ceviche-ish tuna appetizer, a leg 'o pork chop, and panna cotta for dessert. Very solid, good food. We sat on the second floor and there was one, 5-6 person table near the ledge that had a "to die for" view of the kitchen and the 1st floor.

Heard from multiple sources that the lines were long, and we experienced nothing to disagree. Luckily, we came prepared with reading material, and our 25 minute worth was well worth it for a tasty brunch. As one friend noted, there isn't much to differentiate breakfast places once you get to a certain level, but this one ranked well up there in my book. They had nice, crispy potatoes, tasty pancakes, delicious cinnamon stick buns, and an overloaded bacon-and-brie omlette that... well, I'm a bacon fan and it made me more than happy.
I also tried a ginger orange juice punch - very interesting and a bit on the gingery (i.e. very heavily spiced) for me.

Having just been to a Roy's in Kauai, the menu was familiar. We had the SFDineAboutTown menu and thoroughly enjoyed it. Perhaps the novelty had worn off after a week of eating hawaiian fusion, so it didn't have quite the tasty aura of the Kauai incarnation, but nevertheless, our appetizer sampler, pork chop and steak entrees, and tart and molten chocolate cake were all very good.

Entertainment

Notes
This is the Union Square location for GoCarSF. Also have a location in Fisherman's Wharf. To rent a GoCar, it costs $39.99 for the first hour, $29.99 for the second and $20.00 per hour after that. After 5 hours, there are no additional charges.

We had a good time once we got a car with a working GPS (took 45 minutes and two stops back to the garage which curtailed our plans a bit). Not sure if it's as much fun for the passenger, there was a lot of noise, pollution, vibration, etc.... but despite it all, it was fun, informative, and amusing to be waved at by random people as we putted around the city.
