This magnificent boardwalk links the Dufferin Terrace with the National Battlefields Park. Anchored on a sheer cliff and offering indomitable views over the Saint Lawrence River, the boardwalk extends nearly half a mile, under The Citadel, and provides the most enjoyable link between Vieux-Quebec and the Upper Town. The boardwalk is free and open year round, but there is no snow removal in the winter so the walk can become quite treacherous!

Better known as the Plains of Abraham, this is one of Quebec City's most popular parks and historical attractions. Commemorating the daring 1759 attack in which Quebec fell to the British under the leadership of General Wolfe, the park features two striking Martello Towers offering rotating displays and great views over the St Lawrence River. History, which is everywhere in Quebec, is most evident in its beautifully-preserved fortifications that date from the early 17th century. As the only remaining walled city in North America, Quebec has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Visitors are free to walk along the nearly five kilometres of walls. The interpretation centre offers an intriguing look into the military and architectural design features. Guided walking tours offer further insights. This family Italian restaurant is well-known for its pizzas, which are apparently the best west of Rome. Named after neighbourhood streets, the pizzas are original and flavourful, with toppings ranging from traditional pepperoni and cheese to Peking duck. Soups, pasta, salads, and calzones are also available should you choose to take a pass on the pizzas. The restaurant is located in the Limoilou neighbourhood, about 10 minutes away from the Old City. Le Maizerets has a beautiful terrace in the summer and the service is always very friendly, no matter the season.

This venerable Vieux-Quebec bistro exudes old world charm, creating an atmosphere in which everything from the impeccable French cuisine to the attentive but not-quite-formal service seems just right. The rack of lamb is something of a house specialty, but the kitchen also prepares excellent veal, beef, rabbit and seafood dishes, accompanied by wonderful appetizers, including soups and pâte maison. The terrace in summer is as charming as terraces come, while the somewhat dated opulence inside is also strangely affecting.
