Nellis-tour TBird hangar (use to have tour/movie on Thus) if you are into them (and you know I am being an alumni); LIberace museum (might be way before your time); Red Rock Canyon (west on Charleston - area of red rock formations; a mini Valley of Fire which is outside LV but further); Mt Charleston; the "M" has great buffet with good food and assortment, but kinda $$ (some buffets have ordinary cafeteria food whereas this is quality - free beer or wine I think); Ethel M candy factory (mini-tour of choc making, but has extensive cactus garden)
Wayne Newton's Shendahoa Ranch (Paradise Valley area) & Siegrfried & Roy's (Decatur & ?? - NW Las Vegas) - high block fences but you can see a bit if that interests you or I can you my old addresses (Ha)! Lake Las Vegas (another man made lake with $$$$ homes and shopping area but it has been several yrs since I have been there and then it was just developing - southeast of LV about 20 miles out);
The mountain range to the east -- looks like a sleeping Indian. Usually very gorgeous sunrises/sunsets and the mountain ranges change colors from grays to purples -- sometimes look unrealt Nellis has great commissary/BX.
If you are interested in T-Bird call for tour (use to be Thus) or the 'museum' is usually open M-F for gen viewing. If you see T-Brd guy/gal -- tell them you are friend of alumni MG(80-83) and request to go into hangar to see "patch' - quite a historical tradition which they should explain to you. Also MG/team were awarded Fitzgeral Award in 81 - should be showcased
Been so long since I have been in any of the casinos that I don't know what might be featured. When we visit, we don't do that. Another place is Glitter Gulch (downtown area) that has the overhead computerized canopy and zip lining. Friend just did that a few weeks ago..... Horeshoe Club (Binion fame) use to have a million dollars on display. The casinos down there are not the sophisitication of the Strip area.
