My wife and I have done a leg of this trip. We went from San Diego to San Fransisco. One place they left out was "PISMO BEACH". We absolutely loved that area. Beach, sand dunes for miles with 4 wheeler and dirt bike rentals. Beachside eateries and if you like you can camp out on the beach all night. This is definitly a well kept secret from travelers.
I made this road trip a few months ago with my friends and we all agree that the view to the pacific ocean is incredible from hwy #1. A great and unforgetable experience, the best road trip you can do in California!
I love this trip, I always have, I say this because I am from there, I have grown up all my life there, worked, ate, went to school there, I have traveled all over this country, and I am so proud to call monterey my home, the food the wine the views, are all just so perfect, and the weather just cant be beat.so grab your sweater, or windbraker, cause you will need it,maybe a light sunblock. and take a trip that will have you comming back, trip after trip.
This trip is amazing! Back in January, my friends and I flew from Jersey to San Fran...spent a couple of days there..then took Hwy 1 all the way down to LA. The most amazing views I have EVER seen!
having driven Hwy #1 more than a dozen times my thoughts are pretty distilled. Allow time and more time. move on the hwy at night and stay during the day. be prepared to follow side road off hwy at any time. Finally when you reach Pismo beach it's over
Took this trip on my motorcycle after riding to CA from Texas. Hwy 1 made it all worth it! SOOOOO beautiful!!! Go during the week though; the PCH is crammed on the weekends.
ive been on this trip ..(LA to Monterey)several times , its a very nice drive , lots of things to stop and see, bring lots of film , stop in solvang, paulas pancake house , is great...walk cannery row (monterey)..at night its crouded , but during the day its ok..pacific grove is beautiful , or carmel , is great , lots of art gallerys ect..and if your into winerys ..theres lots to choose from , along the way .
I know personally how buetiful this trip is, but I my-self experienced this trip iin a whole different manner. I know this trip via car, camper, etc; is wonderful as it is. But I took this trip starting in Gilroy and ending in Santa Monica over a course of five (5) days on my Trek R-1000 Road bicycle. Their is no other way to view the Pacific Ocean. To witness gods creation by sound, site, smell of the country side is one of the most perfect gifts that one can give to them-selves. Although I did have a sag wagon following careing all of my necessities this trip was well worth the money, time, and physical strength sacrified. plus it is also one of the best ways to work things out mentally. Give it a try someday, you will deffinatly not be sorry.
GO PISMO!!!!
