Three Guianas

A trek across the three former colonial states in NorthEast South America. Guyana is South America's only english-speaking country and has one of the world's last great pristine rainforests, complete with jaguars, giant anteaters, giant river otters, amazing snakes and spiders, and well over 800 species of birds. SURINAME - formerly Dutch Guiana - is home to one of the world's most eclectic collections of cultures and languages... from Brazilian to Indonesian to Hindustani to Rastafarian ... and offers a glimpse into the Maroon cultures of escaped slaves in the jungle. Finally, FRENCH GUIANA (a territory of France and technically a part of the European Union) lets visitors see the European Space Center and Ariane 5 rocket launches, as well as mezmerizing visits to the offshore islands collectively (and inaccurately) referred to as "Devils Island."
