Another option for the fishing day? Shopping...There is much to see and do at this location. You can take an elevator ride to the top of Aloha Tower and enjoy the great views of downtown Honolulu and the surrounding areas. Or enjoy fine dining at the many local restaurants in the mall. Or how about some shopping for those one-of-a-kind local souvenirs. There are also Marinetime Museum located here and one of the best restaurants in town, Palomino, is located just across the street. So, take some time doing your busy Hawaii vacation and make time for Aloha Tower. The Drive is about 15 minutes from Waikiki to Aloha Tower. They do charge for parking, but if you make a purchase at any of the mall stores you will receive $5 validation for your parking.

Tickets are given out on a first come basis and there are only a limited amount of tickets given out each day. So if you go, try an arrive early. By early, I mean before 8:30am. This will ensure you of a ticket and make the wait to go over to the Memorial short. Because of security concerns you will not be allowed to bring into the memorial any backpacks, purses, or other bags. Each time I have been, they did allow my camera bag, but don't count on it. If you end up with a wait longer than 3 hours, it is a good opportunity to see the USS Missouri or the Blowfin Submarine.

I would stop to LOOK at Hanauma Bay for a while, but then move on to Kailua Beach Park. You will see Hanauma is very touristy. Most people don't venture to the other side of the island where the beaches are beautiful!

Kailua Beach Park offers a picture perfect outdoor experience. One of the best beach on Oahu, the fine sandy beach is protect by Kailua Bay which makes for gentle waves. A perfect place to take a swim. The trade winds bring in a cool breeze, allowing one to really enjoy the ample picnic areas in this park. There is ample shade, good park facilities and plenty of parking. Kailua Beach Park is a must do stop on any vacation to Oahu.
