http://www.dutchhaven.com/ The shoo-fly pie did not have enough cake. We went back to Miller's (near-by) to get the way we like. Was a cool shop though.
They should update these posts. Yes, i have been to the San Diego zoo. I was too young to appreciate it (16 years old. It was really really Hot. I stood under the misters the whole time, while my parents toured the place. I remember monkeys and baby Kawalas.
I hope you enjoyed your trip, Brenda! The Jersey shore is very cool, and Amish Country is, as well! Outside the cities (not to say views there too!), there is so much history and awesome scenery!
my husband i are going to my sister and brother in laws on the jesery shore ..its my 45th birthday and ive always wanted to go to amish country..the people and there way of life is so refreshing and im looking forward to staying in the b&b ,going to the market ,for a buggy ride and seeing the play joepsh ..we will be there for 3 days ..we live in tampa ..im ready to go where its quite and learn the way of life with the amish people ..also my grandmother and sister were quilters ..so for my birthday im hoping to find a nice quilt to add to my colection ..
I have done all these things and more. I have stayed out in this area dozens of times over the past four years, and befriended some amish people. I have eaten in their homes and attend sunday services (mennonite). There is still much for you to see and learn there .. you did the more commercial end of it. I never get tired of it..such peaceful, loving people We need more of that. If three days,or even overnight, is all I have, it is worth the two hour drive from NJ out there. I have brought people with me and they saay the same thing - and are amazed by the beauty of simplicity.
Thanks and I hear you Kenny. I only recommend a 3-day weekend at most, and less if a vacation stop. Because there is a lot more to explore close by... Like Gettysburg (close), or anywhere in all directions within 3 hours. Check out visitpa.com. You're within reach of many cool destinations with a variety of different opportunities.
Enjoyed your trip report. Others can benefit from your experiences. We were there in 04 before I started putting trips on Yahoo. My biggest disappointment was the food, after a few days, I was dying for a good Mexican or Thai place.
