Notes
A wonderful Hotel. If you like total peace, ask for a room away from the pool, as you can hear the music from the pool area until early evening. They will allow you to leave your car on property for up to 14 days free. They will also give you free transportation to and from the port of Tampa or the airport when you stay at least one night. That was great because it saved us almost $100 in parking. The cafe was very nice too.
We started our trip in Tampa staying at The Tahitian Inn. Very Florida. Sort of reminded me of old Miami. Tiki torches, cabanas by the pool, fountains and balconies. The staff was super nice. They even allowed up so leave our car on property while we were on our cruise, free of charge. They gave us a ride to the port and picked us up for free (yes, we did tip). The hotel was clean and affordable. We went on Carnival Cruise Ship, the Inspiration. First to Grand Cayman Island. Very friendly people and a beautiful island. Lots of banks. We went to the Tortuga Rum factory and tasted rum cakes and rum. Seven Mile Beach was gorgeous. We went to a small town called Hell to see the strange rock formations. The best part of the trip was the turtle farm. We got to hold baby green sea turtles. Cozumel was just what I thought it would be like. Our tour guide Moy, was wonderful. We went to the Discover Mexico Museum...very informative and beautiful artwork. We stopped by El Cidral to see a small Mayan ruin and shop for black coral. Then we went to Mirador Beach, which was out of this world amazing. Stopped by a tequila factory to see the blue agave and learn how it gets made. We drove thru a city section of Cozumel to see how the locals live. We hit downtown to shop (the downtown area is so pretty).
As far as Carnival Cruise goes, we had a wonderful time (aside from my being seasick). There is tons of food and entertainment. The best part is just relaxing. This is really a cruise for young people who like to party (there were lots of young drunk people on the ship). We are a little older, so we may try a differnt cruise line next time. The staff on the ship were top notch. Our waiters and steward were absolutly wonderful. I wish I could have brought them home with me.
