Notes
Nice Clean and very close to downtown Sedona
One of the highlights of our trip was taking a Hummer tour in Sedona. The trip took you deep into the red rocks, exploring areas that you normally can't reach with a rental. Since our kids were younger it made more sense than exploring on our own. Sedona may be the most beautiful -- natural beauty -- city in the country.
And we stayed at the Bright Angel in the Canyon, had to book it nearly a year in advance! Just be prepared that the motels and lodges in the Canyon are no better than Days Inns in Kissimmee. They are throwback motor lodges. You are paying for the location. There is a very good bus system that runs through the resort (so even though you are staying at one of the two lodges that aren't right on the canyon, it's really easy access).
I don't have any meal suggestions in Sedona or Grand Canyon. We stayed at the Hilton in Sedona and since our room opened up to a great view of the red rocks we just ordered room service that night and ate outside. We did have dinner at Bright Angel and I don't remember anything vividly (though it won't be as crowded at night once the day visitors head out).
I remember reading about the Mesa Airport being a great place to check out the sunset (and I think there's supposed to be some kind of popular diner there) but we didn't get around to it.
Have fun!
