The major border town in these parts is NONG KHAI , the terminus of the rail line from Bangkok and the easiest place for overland travel to Laos, whose capital Vientiane is just 24km away.

flight to japan from singapore would have been double the price, that's why there are so many trains going back and forth to bangkok, i'm hoping the train time isn't going to be long to singapore, if it is we may have to skip it and do something else
cool, we can skip laos if it doesn't look all that good, it kinda sounds like a bitch to get to and also plane prices are higher going to or from there. I would like to spend a lot of time in thailand so beaches and bitches here we come!
