Directions: Traveling south on Highway 30 toward Kahului, look for the Olowalu General Store located at Mile Marker #15. Directly behind the store and to the left is a silver water tower. Take the dirt road on the north side of the water tower toward Olowalu Valley. 1/4 mile down the road is a large mound of rock on the right. Look for the faded "red handrail" and remnants from an old staircase located on the sheer cliff wall. Petroglyphs begin near ground level and continue along the ridge to about 60-feet above the ground.

$ Open 10am-9pm. At 3600 Lower Honoapiilani Road, in a small strip shopping center, a couple miles north of Kaanapali. The very best take-out food on West Maui. As a matter of fact, the top-priced $17 fish entrees here are just as good as the $30 to $35 fish dinners at Maui's most expensive restaurants, even though this place has less atmosphere than McDonalds. Ask about tonight’s fresh fish dinner specials. The Honokowai Okazuya is Maui's best and most delicious food bargain. It's in the small strip shopping center that also contains AAAAA Rent-A-Space and a Pizza Hut, very close to Star Market and Kaanapali Shores condo (about 8 minutes north of Kaanapali Beach). http://www.mauihawaii.org/restaurants/ok…

$$$ Serves breakfast, lunch and dinner Kula Lodge is a restaurant (and small lodge and gift shop) in Kula, the farming area of Upcountry, on the slopes of Haleakala volcano. It's on the Haleakala Highway (Route 377), at 3200 feet elevation, just before the start of Route 378, the winding road up to the top of the volcano. The food and the view at Kula Lodge are very good. But there is often a wait to be seated, and service can be painfully S-L-O-W. If you're not in a rush, this is a good place for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, on your way up or down from the top of Haleakala volcano.
Upcountry is a different world, and this garden area is as up as you can get without traveling to Haleakala. In the …
