I wanted to take my kids to the Oklahoma Aquarium so I decided to make it a whole weekend of fun. We took a mini-vacation, stayed in a hotel where they were able to swim (in the smallest pool ever). We went to the Tulsa Zoo which wasnt that impressive for me, but a zoo is a cool place for kids. Then we went to the Tulsa Air and Space museum. When researching online I thought the prices were a little steep but I was so mesmerized after we arrived that it didnt matter. It was a small building with a bunch of different planes and about 3-4 simulators. The best part was the volunteers that were retired military or commmercial pilots that were friendly, informative and really kept my kids attention with their stories. It was a cool place and we ended up spending as much time there as we did at the zoo. The Planetarium was boring for the kids, but I thought it was neat since I've never seen anything like that before and there are several different shows to pick from so maybe one of the others was more kid friendly. After the long day we went to Incredible Pizza to eat and let the kids run off that last bit of energy that would drive me crazy at the hotel. The next morning we set out to the Oklahoma Aquarium. We arrived when it opened and were fortunate to be able to witness the beaver and otter feedings and we also were able to feed the turtles and the stingrays ourselves. They even had a little petting area where we were able to pet the small stingrays and marble? sharks (they were small). It wasn't as big as I expected but I was amazed at some of the native Oklahoma fish and of course the shark exhibit took the cake. All in all it was probably the best time I spent with my kids in a long time and probably the best interactive vacation I've been on with them in a while. We had a great time together in Tulsa and we will definately be going back.
