Reconnecting with the kids and grandkid among the beautiful vistas of SW Alaska sounded like a great plan! We booked a flight from Orange County, CA to Juneau through Alaska Airlines. We want to see the sights but also want to be as frugal as possible in this tough economy. So we booked the hostel in Juneau for 5 days. I'm a college professor and really enjoy the young crowd and have done some rustic traveling in So America and Africa so this can't be too bad, plus at $10 a night per person ($5.00 for the child) this is much cheaper then the 100 or more that everything else is.
