Option 1: Buy a PAYG Oystercard and load it with GBP 30. Use it everywhere you go.
Option 2:(if you're not sure what modes of transport you will be using):
Buy a regular (paper) zones 1-2 travelcard. If you're using the tube after 9:30 AM (as most tourists do) then three 1-day travelcards work out cheaper @ 5.60 GBP each. If you're likely to be out and about early in the morning, then a 3-day travelcard is cheaper @ 18.40 GBP.LHR is in zone 6, so the cash excess fare for travel to zone 2 will be £3.20.
