Jakarta is totally awesome! we had great time all there...shopping was the best part of the trip! It's more of intensive shopping trip for us. We arrived in Jakarta at 8.00am..went straight to the hotel but couldnt check in..so we left our bags at the concierge. Took a bluebird cab to Pasar Tanah Abang. The traffic was smooth coz its early sunday morning..:)..arrived in Tanah Abang around 9.am most shops are still closed and by 10am most shops are in operation. Tanah Abang is a complete heaven for those who loves textiles and clothings...everything was dirt cheap..excellent bargaining skill and fluent indonesian slang is a plus here..Went back to hotel closed to 2pm..by then our we couldnt even move our limbs.
Checked in Manhattan Hotel. The hotel was great..very clean and modern room. spacious enough for us three. Rest for 2 hours and we were out and about again.. This time was to Plaza Sarinah. To tell the truth..Plaza Sarinah was a bad choice for us! Nothing special to offer as its really an old fashioned department store. Took another cab to Plaza Indonesia...Plaza Indonesia is a total opposite to Plaza Sarinah as it is a great new and vibrant mall but still it doesnt excite us all. It looks the same as Pavillion the one we have in KL...had coffee at Coffee Bean (their strawberries smoothies taste weird)...then had quick walk around the mall and the other mall across the street. Went back to hotel around 8pm then headed straight to the hotel's spa center. The spa was great..helped us to loosen up our muscle tensed...
the next day we went staright to ITC Kuningan and Mall Ambasador. To our surprised..mall ambassador is a great place to find cheap childrens toys and clothes..OMG! It was dirt cheap...we went crazy from one shop to another! Then we went to ITC Kuningan..Bought lots of pirated dvds at only RM2 (USD0.60) per dvd..isnt that great? went up another floor...we found lots of shops selling cheap branded babies stuff like strollers, carseats, bibs, bottles, clothings etc..went crazy at all the shops. then move up another level to find more and more clothing shops...bought dresses, dresses and more dresses...You can also get alot of fake branded handbags, shoes and watches in that building...It's like shopping in US, UK, Spain, France and Italy in one building! Its totally awesome!
Went back to the hotel at 8.30.had quick shower then off for dinner somewhere in downtown where they served u Lamb/Mutton Fried Rice. It was just a stall in the backlane of some god-knows street and the location was abit off...lot of people are eating from their cars and those that want to eat outside they can opt for the stools with low plastic table there. The meal was so-so only but i can see the locals really loves it...had lam fried rice and avocado juice. then we were taken to MONAS and took some pix. Went back to the hotel closed to 12..
Went back to KL the next morning..with a plan to come back again soon!
