Transportation option?
Hakone Weekday Pass
From Shinjuku: Adult: 4,700 yen; Child: 2350 yen
From Mukogaoka-yuen: Adult: 4,440 yen; Child: 2,220 yen
From Machida: Adult: 4,240 yen; Child; 2,120 yen
From Odawara: 3,410 yen; Child: 1,700 yen
Valid for 2 days, from Monday to Thursday (except public holidays). The contents are the same as Hakone Pass but weekdays only. Very advantageous but you cannot use it during the period of Spring Season (March 19 to April 10), Golden Week (April 28 to May 5), Summer Season (July 19 to August 31) and New Year period (12/29 to 1/3).

Ways to get there:
From Shinjuku Station take the JR Super Azusa train on the Chuo Line. Change at Otsuki Station to the Fujisan Tokkyu (Mt. Fuji Express) train on the Fuji Kyuko Line and then alight at the last stop, Kawaguchi-ko Station. If you would like to see the Lake Kawaguchi area, then you should walk from here. If you would like to head up Mt. Fuji, 14 buses a day run from outside Kawaguchi-ko Station to the 5th station from 07:20 until 21:15. Buses only run between 12 July and 31 August, take around 55 minutes to reach their destination, and cost JPY 1,500 for a one-way ticket or JPY 2,000 for a return (to be bought in advance). (Note that in the evening buses run at a rate of one approximately every two hours.)

Reviews are mixed (main complaints are that there isn't enough time at each site), but this tour seems pretty comprehensive for $152/approx 13,680 yen (9am-8pm)
http://www.viator.com/tours/Tokyo/Mt-Fuj…
It includes: transport (bus and train), admission fees, lunch, english guide, cruise, cable car

This one is cheaper $120/10,800 yen...and seems to include the same things except that it's entirely by bus
http://www.viator.com/tours/Tokyo/Mt-Fuj…

This bus trip is on sale for just under 13,000 - appears to be the same as the 11,000 one:
