Camping.
To drive from ensenada to san quintin is 116.36 miles Time: 3 hrs 13 mins.
Ensenada also attracts its share of surfers, of course, though as you'll find throughout Baja it really pays to have your own transport. The best beaches are at Estero, some 10km to the south, 2km off the main road. Occasional local buses run past these to perhaps the most startling attraction in the area, La Bufadora, a natural blowhole or geyser, where the combined action of wind, waves and an incoming tide periodically forces a huge jet of sea water up through a small vent in the roof of an undersea cavern, in ideal conditions attaining 25–30m. Even though it's more than 20km off the main road, it's worth a visit, despite the annoying number of souvenir stands that rather spoil the atmosphere. To get there take a micro from the Tres Cabezas park on Costero at the bottom of Riveroll to Maneadero and another from there.
PLAYA SALDAMANDO. Family friendly. Private campsites on the beach and on the cliffs above.

Camping...$8. Trailers for rent $30. Small RV spaces. Bathrooms. Showers. Swimming, kayaking, surfing, snorkeling. Playa Saldamando is 8 miles North of Ensenada. Reservations:               (619) 857-9242

The Valle de Guadalupe is a valley of a couple of dozen vineyards, along with a few boutique hotels and organic farms; the road that passes through it is know as La Ruta del Vino. One of the wineries, Monte Xanic, which produces award-winning whites and reds, is pairing with resort manager and developer Banyan Tree to create a luxurious small hotel called Banyan Tree Monte Xanic, which should be completed in 2010.

Notes
San Bruno: These white sand beaches are accessible to people with off-road vehicles. Several rocky areas between the beaches offer good fishing from the shore. Winter is the time to go.
Where it's at: The beach is located on the Sea of Cortiz, south of the town of Santa Rosalma. The beaches extend for five miles south of San Bruno, which is one mile east of Highway 1 at Kilometer 173, about 14 miles south of Santa Rosalma.
Punta Chiavato
Playa La Palmita is readily accessible by pickups and vans on several dirt roads down small gullies. It takes four-wheel-drive vehicles to work farther south from La Palmita or to access the southern beaches off Highway 1 north of Mulegi. Fishing off the beach might net you a roosterfish. It is a great place for seeking out seashells. We spent four delightful days on Playa La Palmita following the shade around the camper, reading books, enjoying the sweeping view, and heading a hop away from our camp to cool down with a dip in the placid bay waters.

Where it's at:Punta Chivato is located on the Sea of Cortiz, south of Santa Rosalma. The beaches are most easily reached about 12 miles east of Highway 1 at Kilometer 156, approximately 25 miles south of Santa Rosalma, off the washboard road to the Punta Chivato Hotel. Starting with the northernmost beach, Playa La Palmita, west of the airstrip, Playas Mapachito and El Chivato extend about 10 miles south along the western shore of Bahma de Santa Iniz.
Bahma Concepcion
This is the greatest aggregation of uniformly lovely beaches — all with stunning views and fronting on placid waters — to be found in Baja, the whole of Mexico, or, for that matter, anywhere else in the world we have been, heard of, or read about. In other words, go. If fishing's your thing, you may be disappointed, but the clamming is great.

Where it's at:Bahma Concepcion is located on the Sea of Cortiz, south of Mulegi. The northernmost beach, at Campo Playa Punta Arena, is about 10 miles south of Mulegi. It is about 20 miles from there to the southernmost beach, Playa Armenta. In between are seven other campgrounds.

Camping in Loreto.
Loreto is located 715 miles south of the border at San Diego.
Juncalito Beach
This is a favorite beach with the primitive camping set. Why is it so popular? Because not only is it free, it's located in a very attractive setting. Tripui RV Park — where you'll find a restaurant, store, and laundry — is just 2.5 miles south. The scenery is great, the beach is in a somewhat protected cove, the fishing is fantastic around the several offshore islands, and boaters can anchor their craft close to the beach. While tent campers will be very pleased, RVers most likely won't. Before going in with a large motor home or trailer, walk it out to see if you'll fit. Odds are this isn't the place for you.
Where it's at:Juncalito is located about 14 miles south of Loreto on Highway 1 on the Sea of Cortiz (approximately one mile north of the turnoff to Tripui RV Park and Puerto Escondido). Head one-half mile down a rough dirt road to the beach on the southern end of Bahma Juncalito. The village of Juncalito occupies the northern waterfront. Look for the sign on the east side of the highway.
Pescadero Beach
This little-known beach is covered with a blanket of soft sand and is a favorite destination for surfers. Except for the northern reaches, it is remote, offering seclusion to those who make the effort to get there. The beach slopes rather steeply, creating an undertow that can be dangerous to inexperienced swimmers. Winter is the best time to come, as summer is hot.

Where it's at:The beach is located south of Todos Santos, extending about four miles between Punta San Pedro south to Punta Pescadero. San Pedrito RV Park is at the north end. It's best to ask for directions in Pescadero on how to get through the fields.
