Honeymoon

Old fashioned diner restaurant. According to other tourists there, it has been featured on the Food Network. They catered to Tanya's Gluten allergy, they had an allergen list. We both had fish tacos (FANTASTIC), a little on the hot side for Tanya. Tanya cooled off with a vanilla bean shake with chocolate syrup.

We went back on Thursday for another shake.

Hidden away on Spring Hill Mountain (which is a mountain if you were wondering). It took us a little time to find the place, it was nuzzeled away up on the top of the mountain. Spectacular views! Robin was our tasting coordinator. She seemed a little annoyed when we first got there. Another couple arrived to taste with us, the guy was the Manager of The Martini House Restaurant. Glad he was there because I think it made the tasting fun. He knew a lot about wine and you needed to for this tasting. We drank a LOT of wine, all reds, all terrific with some unbelievable. I'm out of adjectives so I'll tell you we bought a couple of bottles and now have reservations at The Martini House.

Fantastic! David Minor, jazz musician, originally from Chicago. I guess he likes motorcycles too. Wasn't in that day but the girl hosting our tasting was fantastic. She as from LeMars, small world, studied law at Drake, now lives here. She was generous with the tasting (including a sample of the rose which turned out to be one of their talked about wines). She gave us a personalized bottle of Sauvignon Blanc for our honeymoon. I bought a couple of very nice wines.

Picnic out back, bought two bottles of water. Cute place with lots of cheeses and jams.

Manager is David. Made reservations thru him. Food was pretty good. Tanya got the prefixed Chef's menu. Salad was too salty, ribs were blahn, the sweet potatoes were incredible and the panna cotta was terrific. Her wine pairings were okay, the Sauvignon Blanc smelled great but didn't taste as good. The Syrah smelled and tasted like Raid. Benny got the Ahi Tuna, very good, interesting mix of flavors. Cream of Mushroom soup stole the show. By far the best. ps. Gluten Free not a problem.
