I'm really excited for ya'll. Have a bunch of fun. Now we can live through ya'lls travel log and not even leave home. I had to look up Jefferson Davis too. I just want to know how DeAnn knew who he was.(ha) By the way he was the President of the Confederate States of America.(go figure) Watch out for Monticello & Jackson MS that is where Alvin's family is from. Keep in touch. Hugs, Kay
Tupelo seems to be as unpredictability as the drive here. Today started with a trip to the Tupelo National Battlefield were the final battle of the civil war in Mississippi took place. Well there was no parking to speak of……. Then we headed to the Visitors Center - will the center is under construction, but there was parking. Not a very good start to the day. Tupelo really needs to work on its tourism angle (Maybe I should apply for the position) Final the whole reason we stopped in Tupelo Elvis Presley (EP) Birthplace. We toured the museum and the house where he was born. The house was only two rooms and 450 square feet. The ladies that worked in the museum gave us some ideas for lunch and dinner. Now the trip finally gets interesting….. We ate lunch at Johnnie’s Drive In (Elvis ate here as a child). I had an EP Burger (there is flour and water mixed in w/the meat) and Geri had a BBQ sandwich. The BBQ is different here but it is great. For dinner we ate at BBQ by Jim - again the food was great. I had a BBQ sandwich which has coleslaw on it. Look out Memphis here we come…………..
Cool, sounds like fun...except knoxville. I think DeAnn is the only one who new about the Davis guy. I really like this Blog. So cool to follow you guys around.
Hi guys, I am finally back online! The blog looks great. I sure didn't know who Davis was. You need to post about how much you love the hills of WV :) Be safe and have fun in Virginia.
Hey You Gals, Sounds like the trip's going well! I spent some time in Mississippi and you're right, not as many people as one might think. Can't wait to see all the pics - especially of the Jets. I hope you get to see The Bret at some point while you're in NY. Take care and have fun!!! Hugs, Adrien
Ok, first, I resemble that driving remark! That's why I don't understand why all you Houstonians flip out on the roads when it rains a little. At least it's flat!
Second, Chris thinks there are 6 American presidents from Virginia and I wouldn't let him google it before I posted.
Third, Was it Lee Harvey Oswald? Just kidding. I should know this since there was a whole park dedicated to Stonewall Jackson in the next town over from Buckhannon but there you go.
There may be a bunch of mountains out east, but see how much history you are experiencing? And don't worry, we drove in circles trying to get to Arlington Cemetery too. Did you get to see the Iwo Jima monument?
This travel log is pretty cool! Keep us updated and be safe! Love ya'll!
