Sun 05/25/08 (day 1) - Quincy

Average Rating (5):

City
Quincy, CA, United States
Sun May 25 12:00am
Notes
Came over from Eureka, CA and went over Mt. Lassen. Of course it was nice leaving Eureka (which is novel) and as I got closer to Lassen it got colder and wetter. At the top of Lassen I hit snow.

Quincy was a nice place to stay and ate at a good Mexican place.

Circled part of Lake Tahoe and though it was not the most beautiful day - it did not rain. Enjoyed some great views and wonderful scenery.

When I hit Tonopah it did rain VERY heavily when I was having dinner at the local casino.

Notes
I started out the day by having my battery run dry (though it led to a wonderful interaction with the locals.

On the extraterrestrial hwy I almost ran out of gas - fortunately the ill alien inn was there to sell me some gas.

Coming into UT vi Snow Canyon is a wonderful experience.

Average Rating (7):

City
Page, AZ, United States
Wed May 28 12:00am - Thu May 29 12:00am
Notes
Zion in the morning was a wonderful thing and making my way down to marble canyon was great. I wish I had built in a bit more time to see the Grand on this trip - another trip will be needed.

Glen Canyon Dam is something - though it does make you think about what that canyon would be like if the dam were not there.

City
Denver, CO, United States
Tue Jun 3 12:00am - Wed Jun 4 12:00am
Notes
The ride from Taos to Denver via Alamosa is great. I did a quick stop at the Gorge and at the great Sand Dunes

In Denver and surrounds I had wanted to do trail ridge and the peak to peak - however it was VERY cold and trail ridge was closed the entire time I was out there. I did do a nice mountain ride all the way from 70 to pouder canyon and back down. Also did most of the peak to peak.

City
Mountain Home, ID, United States
Wed Jun 11 12:00am - Thu Jun 12 12:00am
Notes
I had wanted to do a very long secondary hwy ride to mountain home from Montpelier - However, waking up to 2 inches of snow and the bike and 39 degrees changed that plan and I ended up doing a straight hwy shot.

Thu 06/12/08 (day 19) - Lakeview

City
Lakeview, OR, United States
Thu Jun 12 12:00am - Fri Jun 13 12:00am
Notes
The area from Boise to Lakeview is some of the most rugged and remote. Very few services...but beautiful. The trip from lakeview back to Eureka was great (if not a bit hot) - Shasta and Lassen were VERY snow covered and shining in the sun.
